garden happenings #3

what i did this weekend in the gardens (and in the absence of TV):
finally found a place for those crazy zinnias (okay, actually 2 places and i still have a whole tray of seedlings left over).
these are in the same plot as the healing japanese maple. however it is in the front corner and far enough away from the healing tree that i don't think it will hurt it. and they are annuals anyway...

found yet another plant and flower that i have no clue what they are but they are sure pretty aren't they? i think i chopped half of this back this spring because i thought they were little tree suckers shooting out from the base of the tree. i must stop hacking away at my gardens....

finally got around to planting the leftover dianthus (princess mix) from my late friend's memorial. this is around the baby tree in our front yard. this spot gets more shade that i had thought but my friend erin and i planted them here anyway. and i think they look beautiful, just like she was.

other notables this weekend:
1. had brother in law and his girlfriend over for dinner and to "shop" in our basement (a new homeowner, needed kitchen equipment, and i must say i have about 3 kitchens worth of appliances, plates, silverware...well you get the picture)
2. created new recipes and finally started to use the herbs in my garden, which i will post soon...
3. revelling in the fact that i am ALMOST finished with the actual planting of stuff and can concentrate on the maintenance of the garden. although, what on earth am i going to do with my time???
